She was the wife of an important legislator and officer in WWII and mother of two daughters, Barbara and Mickey. The quilt was made for Barbara; however, Mickey ended up with all the family quilts. The quilt hung in the girls’ bedroom for many years. Mickey remembers that each night, before bed, she and her sister would recite as many of the rhymes as they could before falling asleep.
The full pattern includes a picture of the original quilt, the Redwork designs and corresponding nursery rhymes, directions and yardages. This pattern is in book form with a coil binding for easy copying of patterns.
