Tips and Tricks for Better Piecing

TIP:  My rule of thumb is...the right tool always makes a job easier.  Simple right?  Listed are some of my favorites and each Quilts Remembered pattern utilizes at least one of these tools.

Tools of the Trade

TrapuntoTool
The Trapunto Tool is my go to tool.  Just to clarify…It is not used for trapunto with any of the Quilts Remembered patterns.  It is used like a stiletto while sewing quilt pieces together.  The ‘L’ shaped tip holds piecing together where fingers cannot.  Use it to hold fabric all the way up to the sewing machine needle!  It is also used in the gluing process for Invisible Machine Applique.

Sewline Fabric Pencil

If I have to draw on dark fabric the Sewline Fabric Pencil is one of my favorite tools. It has a specially formulated ceramic lead giving a clear, fine line on fabrics.  The ceramic lead is strong, non-gritty and easily removed with the eraser or sponged off with a damp cloth. The best part is the Sewline mechanical pencil always stays sharp! It can be used in most of the Quilts Remembered patterns. Watch the Sewline video
